Book Preview: Why don't Spiders Stick to Their Webs?

Great new book about fun scientific questions!

This is such a fun book to read, especially if you are a busy person and you only have a bit of time to fill.  Here are a few of the interesting questions that you'll find answers to in this book:

  • Why can't we tickle ourselves?
  • What would happen if you fell into a black hole?
  • Why is it so difficult to get ketchup out of a full bottle?
  • Do you get wetter if you run or walk in the rain?

Writer Robert Matthews answers all these questions in half to full page paragraphs.  It's great because you can quickly read the alarming answers and you can skip over questions that don't interest you.  The thing is, most of the time you don't skip them.  Almost all of them are interesting.  Matthews helps to clear up a lot of those little questions we have about things and he confirms or denies all those little bits of wisdom that we hear but we aren't sure whether or not they are true.

A big thanks to Hazirah in 10S1 for donating this fascinating book as well as 17 others for the Senior Reading Room.  If you have good quality used books that you think the other girls will enjoy, please feel free to bring them into the English Department.  Thanks again Hazirah, your books will be well loved, especially the colletion of 8 Wilson books!!!
